|
Lesotho’s Coat of Arms was first adopted in 1966 when the country attained its independence from Britain. It was subsequently changed in 2006, with the Coat of Arms below being the current one. It depicts a shield with a crocodile (“Kuena” in Sesotho) in the middle, a spear and a knobkerrie appearing behind it and two horses (Lesotho ponies) standing on either side. It also has three Sotho words below it. These are “Khotso” which means “Peace”, “Pula” which means “Rain”, and “Nala” which means “Prosperity”.
